Indigenous Land Stewardship Practices from Around the World

A screenshot of the instructions from the indigenous land stewardship assignment.

Description

This was 6th assignment in the “Whose Land, For What Purposes?” 9th grade World History unit. It took me a LONG time to find all of these resources. I tried to get representation from a very wide range of places so that students would feel like they had something to connect with. Many of them came from the brilliant book “Lo-TEK: Design by Radical Indigenism,” which is a gorgeous book I bought that is very expensive, but can be found online for free. These are videos that I found based off the content I read from the book. See the full student handout here. I also drew information from these websites: https://www.iisd.org/articles/deep-dive/indigenous-peoples-defending-environment-all, https://www.youtube.com/c/NomadArchitecture/videos, https://www.inclusivedevelopment.net/cases/
