How are you sensing climate change?
While my dad is not formally educated to know the term “climate change,” he is aware that the world is changing in a way he doesn’t understand. A few years ago, my dad and I were in the car, when he shared his frustration about not knowing when to put his summer clothes away and put his winter clothes in the closet. This seems like a simple task that he should be an expert in well into adulthood. He explains that he’s getting older now, so he needs to carefully plan how much energy he exerts on seasonal tasks like shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, raking leaves, etc. He used to know that between Halloween and Thanksgiving that he needed to change out his wardrobe swapping out summer clothes for winter clothes. And by his birthday in December, there would already be snow that he needed to shovel. Now, he is confused, because holidays no longer signal seasonal changes he got used to. He has even worn shorts on his birthday.
