Ikym’s Climate Story

How are you sensing climate change?

Through my health and home.

How do these changes make you feel?

Initially, I felt suffocated. Generations of people in my family suffering from asthma, in the homes that we can’t leave. In my own home, my room, the place that I curated to bring me comfort and protect me from harm, had greatly contributed to my illness. The worst part was, there was no sole person or place to blame. That suffocation turned to curiosity. I began to notice that the issue wasn’t isolated, and that many people, especially those who look like me, were also deeply affected. This was the beginning of my climate story.
