How are you sensing climate change?

My family has always been busy, my dad is a doctor, my brother is on the medical school track, my mom does the finances and taxes for our accounts, and I have school and club soccer. Because of this we never really went on any big trips as to have all of our schedules cleared up was basically impossible. Instead, our go to vacation was a weekend/short trip to Mammoth Mountain, either to go skiing in the winter and spring or enjoy outdoor recreational activities in the summer. Due to climate change however, the past years, except a select few, have been terrible for both winter and summer. Mammoth had the lowest base snow levels they’ve ever had and in the summer there were frequent wildfires from the lack of rain and snowmelt. Subsequently, we slowly stopped going as much due to the poor conditions. This has been unfortunate as I have very fond memories at Mammoth and it is one of the main reasons why I love nature and the outdoors so much. Climate change has taken away one of the great getaways for escaping Los Angeles and recharging in nature. Additionally, is has taken away our family tradition of spending time together at our favorite local vacation spot.

How do these changes make you feel?

These changes make me feel sad for future generations, as at the current rates of climate change, the damages to environments will only get worse if not permanent. Environmental ethics are a key in the salvation of mother nature and ecological wonders of the world. Without the adoption of them becoming mainstream in politics, businesses, and our everyday lives we risk ruining the earth not only for nature but for future generations as well.
